Cottage Meeting & Focus Group Summary

MSC Members:

Amy St. Peter
Amy has attended the Unitarian Universalist Church in Surprise since the welcoming ceremony for her daughter in Sept. 2009. She and her family have participated in the Religious Education program for years. In addition, she has served as a guest speaker on an ongoing basis and has served as Secretary of the Board, Co-Chair of the Worship Services Committee, and usher.
She cherishes this faith community as an integral part of her life.

Libby Christianson
Libby has been a member of UUCS since October 2020. Some of her work at the church includes Membership Committee, greeter, choir, Questors classes, and HR support. She is grateful for this faith community where she can live her values.

Brent Garrett
Brent has been a church member since 2005. Through the years he has served the church on the Budget & Finance and Buildings & Grounds committees, taught and played a role in the children’s RE programs, volunteered as a Reading Buddy in the Surprise Elementary Cub Book Club reading enrichment project, and was Church Auctioneer for 4 years. For Brent UUCS is a place that focuses on treating people with dignity and respect within an environment that allows for “Different Points of View” to be expressed.

Michael Gentry
Michael and his family have attended UUCS since 2017. He has served on the Nominating Committee, the Audio Visual Team and has taught RE classes. For Michael, UUCS is a place where spiritual growth is developed through compassion, rationality and a sense of awe.

Reggie Johnston
Reggie joined UCCS in 2007. She immediately felt at home here and has participated by chairing Children’s RE (now Family Ministry), serving as Board President for four years and working (and having fun) with fund raisers. She considers UUCS to be part of her family

Juliet Gustavson
Juliet (and Gus) joined UUCS in 2017 and became UUs at the same time. Although she had attended and been active in several churches over the years, she thinks she was always a UU at heart. Since joining she has served as Coordinator of the Surprise Elementary Reading Enrichment Program, Guest Worship Leader, and Chair of the Questers Adult Education program. She and Gus co-edit the newsletter, and she sings in the choir. UUCS is truly her faith home, and she’s eager to be part of its future.

Jeff London
Jeff found his home with our UUCS when he moved here in 2010. He soon found many friends through his volunteer work serving coffee in the Social Hour, hosting the annual auction, tutoring math and reading with children reading enrichment program at Surprise Elementary School, working on grounds care, and serving as a member of the Questers Committee. Jeff says the UU seven principles are what bind him to us all at UUCS.
